A few km from Abetone, Cutigliano is a lovely historic town of the mountains of Pistoia whose origins date back to the year 1000. The town center has maintained the special medieval appearance of the italian mountain areas, with loggias, stone houses and cobblestone streets.
Walking along Via Roma you can admire the Palace of the Captains of the Mountain and its fifteenth-century loggia, while in the town hall square stands the small church of Santa Maria di Piazza that also dates back to the ‘400.
Surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape, Cutigliano is frequented by tourists both in summer and winter. The ski slopes are in fact only a few minutes away and there are many hiking trails that start or end right at the center of the village. Along the way you have the opportunity to visit even the smallest and characteristics localities of the area, as Melo and Rivoreta, and enjoy the mountain nature: forests, streams, rocks and waterfalls.
